Zuni & Pueblo fetishes

What it is
Small carved animals, one for each direction: bear (west, healing), mountain lion (north), badger (south), wolf (east), eagle (above) and mole (below). They are fed cornmeal and kept in a jar. Some carry an arrowhead and a heartline.
Making yours
2–7 cm stone (turquoise, serpentine, jet, alabaster) or antler, with shell and turquoise inlays and a bundle tied on with sinew.
