Korean bujeok & norigae

What it is

Bujeok are yellow-paper talismans painted in cinnabar by shamans and monks against disaster, disease or for love. Norigae are the tasselled pendants hung from a woman’s hanbok, often with amuletic charms: butterflies, eggplants, tiger claws and perfume cases.

Making yours

A norigae has a knotted silk cord (maedeup) with a central ornament of silver, jade or coral and long silk tassels.
