Coin charms (yasheng qian)

What it is
Coin-shaped charms, never money, cast with auspicious phrases, the Eight Trigrams, zodiac animals, the Taoist sword, or spells that command demons “with the speed of the law”. Openwork and key-shaped types exist.
Making yours
2.5–6 cm cast brass or bronze with a square hole. Sand-cast from a master coin, as the originals were.
